It’s good to check up on our favorite stars every once in a while. You know, just to see how they’re doing. Take Nicolas Cage, for one. As the actor helps stir up press for his latest film, Renfield, a classic vampire horror flick from Universal, Cage spoke of his eclectic tastes and revealed some lesser-known facts about himself.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, the 58-year-old star shared that he is in fact “Goth” and to only add to his gothic cred, owns an insult-throwing crow named Hoogan. In typical Nick Cage fashion, the bird lives with the actor in his Las Vegas home inside a geodesic dome.
“He has taken to calling me names…it’s comical, at least, it is to me. When I leave the room, he’ll say, ‘Bye,’ and then go, ‘Ass.’ Crows are very intelligent. And I like their appearance, the Edgar Allan Poe aspect. I like the goth element. I am a goth.”
It should also be no surprise that Cage has a very goth, metalhead son, Weston Coppola Cage.
So that means on top of playing a vampire and owning a crow, we can probably find Cage listening to The Cure and donning some goth makeup as well. In addition to his goth pet, Cage will really be leaning into his role as Dracula in Renfield, which starts filming next month.
