A plucky great-grandma in Londonderry, Northern Ireland was not about to miss out on her granddaughter getting a tattoo. Sadie Sellers, 79, escaped from her retirement home to get inked with her great-granddaughter, Samantha. If you think all elderly folks are timid, gentle people, then think again. The adventurous Sellers is a lady who simply wants to live her life to the fullest.
“I don’t f—ing care!” the spunky senior told Mercury Press.
In fact, Sellers thought the tattoo didn’t hurt enough after getting a small heart inked on her arm.
“I never felt a thing. He just laughed at me,” Sellers said about her artist.
“When you get to my age, you just have to live life to the full every day,” she said. “I was talking about it with Samantha for a couple of weeks and she showed me hers. She came in one day after her holiday and I just thought, ‘Well I’ll get one too.’”
Sellers’ son Tony was surprised to find his mother missing when he came by for a visit. Turns out, this is the second time Sellers has gone AWOL from the home, both times with her great-granddaughter. It seems like rebelliousness runs in the family!
The saucy Sellers even won over the hearts of the inked-up tough guys at the tattoo parlor.
“I went in all I saw was three big lads in their 20s covered in tattoos, and there in the middle was mum getting one herself,” Tony said. “They all thought she was fantastic. She was laughing and giggling the whole time.”
