The Internet is beginning to fall in love with Dora, a Jack Russell-Yorkshire terrier mix with a knack for adventuring with her mom, Cat Maguire.
After hitting the road at the beginning of last year, Cat and Dora have visited cities, towns, and national parks in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Utah, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oregon.
During their escapades across the United States, they’ve endured hail and rain storms, evaded a tornado, and persevered through late night skunk attacks, dog attacks, earthquakes, heatwaves, and snow storms.
When Cat adopted Dora, she was trying to fill a hole in her heart created by the passing of Lil, her black-and-tan Jack Russell and best friend of 17 years. Cat detailed her pup shopping experience in an interview with Woman’s World.
“I noticed there were two male puppies eagerly looking for a home,” Cat said. “I was disappointed, as I thought there was another girl in the litter, when suddenly this tiny puppy rushed down the stairs and into the kitchen of the house! Now, this one had personality, I thought. Turns out it was a girl, and the exact same coloring as my old girl, Lil. That night she slept with me, cuddled up in bed, and that’s how it has been since.”
Cat is dedicated to sharing her capers with Dora on Instagram and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon, posting a handful of candid canine shots every week.
“A lot of people tell me how her photos bring a smile to their face and they get to experience places they have never been or may never have the opportunity to visit. She really is an explorer, and ‘Dora the Explorer’ was the perfect name for her.”
